About
‘Art is an attempt to connect the sacred and the profane, dark and light, life and death’
- Ran Ortner

How to describe the feeling of being at sea in a small sailing boat? The hiss and roar of a crested wave as it passes under the hull, the way an albatross can suddenly appear from the trough of the wave behind you and soar up and over, then quickly become a white speck in the distance. Or a beautiful rockface plunging into the sea in an inaccessible place. Or the calm of an anchorage, the shoreline constantly changing with the light.

You see paintings everywhere; one lifetime is not enough.

I paint what I love, knowing that what is intensely personal can be universal and touch all of us.
